1. INTRODUCTION - MATHEMATIC STANDARDS
Welcome to the Standards for Pre-Service Mathematic Teachers.
The purpose of the FOER Project is to gather data to make improvements in the Egyptian Teacher Education Program. The results gathered from this survey will be examined as aggregate data only.

DOMAIN 1: PLANNING [D1]

Develop a vision of learning and teaching episodes as well as a concept of how to conduct teaching based on the analysis of the objectives and content of teaching mathematics, the nature of learners, and the available resources to achieve the targeted learning.
Standard 1: Identify and analyze the goals of teaching mathematics.
Standard 2: Analyze the content of school mathematics into its different elements.
Standard 3: Plan for teaching in light of the nature of learners and available resources.
Standard 4: Choose teaching strategies and design various appropriate activities and instructional media.
Standard 5: Develop methods and tools for evaluating the achievement of objectives for teaching mathematics.

DOMAIN 2: CONTENT [D2]

Recognize the structure of mathematics, its relationship to other structures, in addition to other aspects of mathematical knowledge and its applications to be competent and skilled in school mathematics content and in line with mathematical standards
Standard 1: Know the development, nature and cognitive structure of mathematics.
Standard 2: Recognize the relationships of mathematics other disciplines and technology.
Standard 3: Master the basic concepts and ideas of mathematics as a discipline and a school subject matter.

DOMAIN 3: ORGANIZATION & MANAGEMENT OF THE TEACHING & LEARNING CONTEXT [D3]

Set up a dynamic and challenging teaching environment and manage it in light of available resources, and create opportunities for using effective learning and teaching strategies for mathematics.
Standard 1: Set and use appropriate procedures to organize and manage the mathematics learning and teaching context and to establish effective communication.
Standard 2: Uses appropriate resources and technology appropriate to mathematics teaching and learning situations.
Standard 3: Manage available teaching time to promote active learning.

DOMAIN 4: TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES [D4]

Knowledge of various methods, techniques and activities of teaching and learning mathematics and the use of the most appropriate techniques and methods in line with the educational goals and objectives.
Standard 1: Knowledge of different strategies, activities, and instructional media for teaching and learning mathematics.
Standard 2: Effectively use suitable teaching and learning strategies.
Standard 3: Make use of available teaching resources and instructional media to stimulate learner motivation and thinking.

DOMAIN 5: EVALUATION [D5]

Use different tools and methods to collect, analyze, and interpret data on the progress achieved by learners and benefit from such data in improving teaching and learning mathematics.
Standard 1: Use suitable quantitative and qualitative tools to collect data on learners’ performance in mathematics.
Standard 2: Analyze and interpret data to determine to what extent the goals and objectives of teaching mathematics are achieved.
Standard 3: Make suitable decisions based on the evaluation results to improve the teaching / learning process.

Awareness of the responsibilities and roles of the mathematics teacher displaying eagerness for professional development, and commitment to the ethics of the teaching profession to achieve professional excellence
Standard 1: Being aware of innovative responsibilities and roles as a mathematics teacher.
Standard 2: Participate in different activities designed to develop his/her knowledge, capabilities, and reinforce professional loyalty.
Standard 3: Abides by the ethics and morals of the teaching profession.
