1. INTRODUCTION - SCIENCE STANDARDS
Welcome to the Standards for Pre-Service Science Teachers.
The purpose of the FOER Project is to gather data to make improvements in the Egyptian Teacher Education Program. The results gathered from this survey will be examined as aggregate data only.

DOMAIN 1. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT [D1]

Standard 1: Create and maintain an appropriate learning environment for the processes of both teaching and learning.
Standard 2: Create a safe and disciplined learning environment where mutual, respect and esteem prevail.
Standard 3: Provide various and equal learning opportunities that facilitate interaction in the classroom.
Standard 4: Establish effective verbal and nonverbal communication.

DOMAIN 2. CONTENT [D2]

Standard 1: Master the structure of scientific content and understand its nature.
Standard 2:Understand the reciprocal relationships between science, technology and society.
Standard 3: Develop an understanding and an appreciation of the nature of scientific inquiry and of scientific investigation skills.
Standard 4: Be aware of the connections between science and other disciplines.
Standard 5: Recognize the relationship between the history and the philosophy of science and its impact on the development of human thought/civilization and the progress of societies.
Standard 6: Link scientific concepts to contemporary historical, technological and social issues.
Standard 7:Be knowledgeable about the methods for insuring safety and security in science labs as well as work to improve them.

Standard 1: Master the skills of planning and designing instructional situations according to learners' needs.
Standard 2: Use teaching strategies involving effective and various inquiry and laboratory activities to facilitate learning.
Standard 3: Master the use of educational technology to maximize learning.
Standard 4: Master the use of various feedback methods in order to measure the progress achieved by learners and the effectiveness of teaching performance.

DOMAIN 4. EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT [D4]

Standard 1:Use strategies for authentic, continuous formal and informal evaluation/assessment.
Standard 2:Maintain fair practices in evaluation/assessment by designing varied and suitable tools that meet the requirements of technical and statistical quality.
Standard 3:Make use of the evaluation/assessment results in making decisions that would improve the processes of teaching and learning.
Standard 4:Use different educational technologies to facilitate and improve the evaluation/assessment process.

Standard 1: Develop his/her ability for continuous self-learning to improve professional performance.
